Used Retro Video Games

Intro: When Telltale Games first started creating episodic games, there was a lot of skepticism in the gaming community. Over the years, they’ve proven that creating interesting and thought provoking gaming adventures out of whatever source material they touch comes naturally to them.

Its iconic gameplay style and platforming mechanics have been adopted by a majority of the 2D games that came after it.
In another article I discussed the relative merits of the two main fifth-gen consoles—the Nintendo 64 and the PlayStation (One)—during their first holiday seasons after launch.
It’s been a couple years since the release of the PS4 and Xbox One (a year after the Switch release) brought us fully into the eighth generation of console gaming. This 8th console war has settled into a battle for exclusives, price differences, and online and social gaming advantages, which is fine—anyone looking to buy a system this year will have more games and better prices (and fewer bugs) than last year’s early adopters.
The Nintendo 64 is a video game console that is seen as a lot of things. With the benefit of hindsight, it is easy to look back and see the console as the moment where Nintendo started to lose its grip on the video game industry that it once dominated.
The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 have been out for a year now and I’m ready to jump in. I’ve been the happy owner of a Wii U since spring (even happier this month with the release of the first Mario Kart 8 DLC for a terrific price), but since the last generation, I’m of the opinion that I need a Nintendo console and one of the other two to really keep up with console gaming.
Intro: If you played Smash Bros. on the Wii U, your first thoughts after you look at this edition might be – “Well, this looks like a replica of the 3DS game.” After all, it has the exact same roster and the same plot.
The Intro: Minecraft is a testament to the capability of a sandbox environment. If you haven’t heard of Minecraft yet, you might look at the blocky graphics and dismiss it without a thought, but by doing so, you would be ridding yourself of a chance to explore the unimaginable depth that lies buried beneath the surface.
Note: The Story section of this review contains story spoilers. Intro: Originally published for the SNES in the States in 1991 as Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy IV Advance (for the Gameboy Advance) is the oldest Final Fantasy game I’ve played.
In a previous post, I discuss some classic games that you know and probably played, but that you should give a second look in 2020. Here I’ll discuss a trio of all-but-forgotten retro video games.
