Resident Evil, Silent Hill and a Standout GameCube Collection

What a collection we just bought! If you’re into retro survival horror, especially Resident Evil and Silent Hill, this order is right up your alley. These games take me back to my college days: smoky dorm rooms, lights out, and something creepy on the screen. Going through this collection brought back plenty of those memories.

The Table of Contents

Mario Golf Always Gets Me Playing

For whatever reason, whenever Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour comes in, I find myself playing nine, twelve, or even eighteen holes. I’ll sit down to test it and end up playing longer than I planned. Maybe it’s the fluid controls, but there’s something about this game that makes it easy to pick up and hard to put down.

Revisiting Resident Evil on GameCube

I spent many hours playing the original Resident Evil on PlayStation. I enjoy revisiting old games, but some of those early PS1 graphics are tough for me to go back to now. When I want to replay Resident Evil, I usually reach for the GameCube version. Playing with a wireless WaveBird controller makes it even more enjoyable.

The Resident Evil 4 GameStop Edition

The Resident Evil 4 GameStop special edition was one of the coolest items in this order. It includes the tin case, an unopened certificate of authenticity, and a BradyGames booklet. I probably wouldn’t have paid extra for it when it came out, but I appreciate those extras much more today. It’s the kind of thing that makes opening a collection interesting.

Silent Hill Arrived at the Right Time

My wife and I are avid horror movie fans, especially when fall rolls around. We had just watched the original Silent Hill movie a few days before this order arrived, so finding these games felt timely. I still remember playing the first Silent Hill on PS1 in college, along with Resident Evil. This copy of Silent Hill 3 also came with its soundtrack, which was a nice extra to find inside the case.

Oregon Trail Took Me Back to Grade School

Seeing Oregon Trail on Wii brought me right back to third or fourth grade. I remember playing it on IBM computers running DOS at school. That’s where I first knew the game, so finding a Wii copy all these years later made me stop and take another look.

A Fun Order to Go Through

This was a fun order to go through, especially with so many retro survival horror games in one collection. Those were my personal favorites, and extras like the Resident Evil 4 tin and Silent Hill 3 soundtrack made it even more interesting. Ready to clear out your collection?
